Remember I promised in this post that I’d post photos of Pebbles Halloween costume?
Remember how I told you that OCD Louie drives me nuts with his incessant nagging and whining? That he forces me to turn every project, no matter how simple it should be, into a huge time-consuming deal?
As I’ve come to expect, that’s just what good old dependable Louie did when he helped Pebbles and me make her Halloween costume. I really wish Louie would get a job or take up a hobby. Preferably something that would keep him too exhausted to bother me.
But I digress.
Pebbles is crazy about the game Minecraft. Actually, crazy is too mild a word to describe her obsession with the game. She lives and breathes Minecraft.
So a Minecraft Halloween costume was inevitable. A very complex Halloween costume was also inevitable, because Pebbles always turns every project into a huge complex undertaking. I really believe OCD Louie has gotten to her. I really, really hate OCD Louie.
So Pebbles shows me this photo:
….and just knows that I can produce an exact replica for her to wear trick-or-treating.
I love that Pebbles has so much confidence in my artsy-craftsy abilities. But the child simply must learn to deal with reality at some point in her life.
I told her the photo gave me nothing. No inspiration. No ideas. Not a hint of where to start or even what the end product should look like. Because when I look at that photo you know what I see? A bunch of freakin’ squares! That’s it!
But bless her sweet, pebbly little heart. She drew a picture of how she wanted the costume to look. And it finally made sense! I actually saw a costume emerge from that previously scrambled maze of freakin’ squares.
And later, rather than sooner thanks to Louie’s help (Really Louie. You were a big help. No Seriously. I couldn’t have done it without you. Now please, go jump in the lake or play in some traffic. Okay?), an awesome costume emerged.
So without further ado I give you FuriousDestroyer, designed by Pebbles Stone and made by moi, from the original Minecraft skin of PopularMMOs. (I’m not giving Louie any billing here, because I’m seriously ticked off at him right now.)
The coolest thing about this costume was that everyone assumed Pebbles was a boy.
Pebble’s was especially proud of the cape.
Please Note: Your name may be FuriousDestroyer, but if you’re eight-years-old you still need a chaperone to go trick-or-treating.
I call this one
First World Problem.
Wondering who The Rock and Pebbles are?
Want to know why we’re raising Pebbles?
And who the heck is OCD Louie?
Find the answer to these burning questions and
more on my About My Blog page.
That is a really cool costume. I want one just to wear around an feel powerful.

Hi Daniel. This is Pebbles. My mom is writing this for me. I think it’s awesome that picked Herobrine for your profile picture.

I would consider making one for you guys but it would take me, like…oh…maybe a year or two. Can you wait that long?
The Rock and I have this running joke. Any time I make something awesome he says, “Hey. You could make those and sell them. No, wait. If we figure out how much you’ll earn per hour…forget it. You’d make less than Third World child labor wages.”
I blame OCD Louie.

Wow !!! That is one amazing costume !!! I didn’t know you have a talent in fashion-designing ! 🙂

Thank you, ady. Although I’m not sure it’s a talent as much as it is a curse. I CAN design and make a costume. Therefore I CANNOT walk into a store and BUY a pre-made one. Which would really save me loads of time, if I could. Because OCD Louie turns costume-making (and everything else I do) into a really, really big freakin' deal for me.

I always prefer a book to a movie. For me, a 2 hour movie can’t possibly convey as much as thousands of written words can. I agree with you about Meryl Streep. She is an amazing actor. She can play any part well.

I too like books better but as I saw the movie first and meryl streep was so snooty,it stuck on me ! But I also find difficult in reading 800 page books,in those cases, movie is easier option 🙂

I could – possibly – be persuaded to post instructions. If anyone is interested. It really wasn’t as difficult as it looks.

He sounds like Pebbles! She has a zillion costumes (well, it seems like zillions) and she loves to wear them when we go to playgrounds. Kids are a blast.

Could you please post instructions on the Furious Destroyer costume? I just stumbled upon your page in my hunt to find a Furious Destroyer costume for my son who is obsessed with Minecraft and Popular MMOs. He has been asking for a Furious Destroyer costume for months to wear for Halloweeen this year. What you did is AMAZING!

I would really love to share my design and instructions with anyone who wants them. And I had originally intended to. BUT…when I mentioned it to Pebbles she got VERY upset. She doesn’t want anyone else to have a costume like hers. She takes some sort of weird pleasure in being the only kid with one. I asked, “Even if you never, ever, ever see the other kids whose parents might make them one?” Even if.
So please accept my apologies for not sharing. Ask me again next summer. Maybe she’ll change her mind by then.

I know you dont want to share your instructions but I was just wondering if you were able to print the skin or if you made it yourself? I couldnt find any template for popularmmos so I just tried to blow up a picture of the face to make a head.Picking it up tomorrow but if you have any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

I copied it from the internet, then took it over into Gimp (that’s a poor man’s Paint Shop; it’s free!!) to get it the right size and into pieces I could print on regular sized printer paper. After I finished geeking it up in Gimp I copied/pasted it into a Word doc. Much easier to handle and print from than Gimp. If I ever do it again I’ll print the skin on sheets of adhesive-backed paper. Gluing it on was a mess. The glue wrinkled the paper and smeared a lot of the colors. If you haven’t already come up with a solution for the eyes I’ll tell you what I did that worked great. I cut two of the squares out right under the blue eyes then stretched two layers of black pantyhose across the holes and taped them in place. Pebbles could see perfectly but no one could see her eyes. Good luck and happy costume-making!
